Temples and churches and those who frequent them tend to get upset when a a cell phone starts ringing right in the middle of the service. Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence, and inappropriately, people send text messages during services too! Cell phone jammers are used to put an end to this.

How about taking your family out to eat at a place where the guy next to you is cursing someone out on the other end of his mobile phone? Or, students that text message each other using mobile phones during exams? Cell phone jammers end this problem as well.

All of these situations are uncalled for, and could be eliminated with the use of cell phone jammers.

We barely made bail with my family’s help but didn’t have the financial needs to hire a private attorney. The public defender assigned to her case convinced her it would be hard to disprove what little evidence was stacked against her to a jury, resulting in her pleading no contest a year later. I spoke with the prosecutor before the change of plea date, explained to the best of my knowledge what had happened (as I had the right, considering I was the "victim") and was able to get the possession charge dropped. Instead they stuck her with a Child Abuse charge, which in the state of FL is a felony. Along with the 3 years probation she was given, special conditions were included to attend a sex offender class without the need to register.

She attended her first group session earlier today. The location she was assigned to is not listed in the probation office’s computer and looked more like a house than mental health care practice in person. There were only 2 staff members that I could count….a female consultant and the desk clerk.

She introduced herself, explained why she was in there.
The consultant was less than friendly. First, she denied Lynn the right to call me by my name much less address me as her fiance, instead she is only permitted to classify me as ‘her victim’. She argues that Lynn manipulated me to stay with her, that she’s nothing but a mother-figure to me. She asked Lynn what I’m doing about a job as we’re both currently unemployed and living with friends, Lynn told her that I am processing to start basic training in the Army. Her response was that I’m just going to disappear and leave Lynn wondering where I’m at, that she should let me go and admit she has a problem.

She told Lynn that all she’s doing is grooming me to stay with her, and that at my age (20) I’m just a child and don’t know better. She says our relationship is unhealthy, despite however many years we’ve been together.

Anyway, you get the idea.
As far as my understanding, a Mental Health Counselor is there to assess your state of mind and identify possible disorders or personality issues. From there, the group sessions are meant for several individuals to express their situations and find support amongst themselves in order to progress with their treatment and recover. A consultant may ask questions here and there, address certain answers if more explanation is needed and so on.

As far as I can tell though, this woman has done nothing except harass the hell out of my fiancee and, when asked a question, disregarded the most direct answers Lynn had given by replying with more put-downs. Personally I would consider that verbal abuse, and, since it was during an open group therapy, public humiliation.

Does that really fall within policies or is she breaching professional conduct? I’m just shocked at what little support practices like this actually have to offer as they’re in no way promoting anything positive for the ones who do need the moral support

Not content with laws banning talking or texting while driving, the U.S. Department of Transportation is considering adding technology to automobiles that would disable cell phones. The move is a response to the growing number of deaths and injuries related to distracted driving.

"I think the technology is there," said Raymond LaHood, the Secretary of Transportation. "And I think you’re going to see the technology become adaptable in automobiles to disable these cell phones."

In addition to his comments on disabled cell phones, LaHood also announced a new video campaign, "Faces of Distracted Driving." The series of online videos tells the stories of several victims of distracted driving. The DoT plans to add a new video every few weeks.

During his talk last week LaHood said that nearly 5,500 people died from distracted driving last year, and that about half a million were injured. That’s a low estimate, according to Paul Atchley, a scientist at the University of Kansas who studies distracted driving.

LaHood’s figures only account for known deaths or injuries — suspected deaths or injuries aren’t included. The real numbers, said Atchley, are likely far higher, and will only get higher.

While there is no federal law against using a cell phone while driving a vehicle, dozens of states prohibit texting while driving in an effort to reduce the number of deaths or injuries. Several other states forbid drivers from using hand-held cell phones.

According to LaHood, laws aren’t enough. Instead he plans to fight technology with technology. Hardware, such as cell phone jammers, are illegal, and the FCC isn’t likely to approve any kind of jamming equipment. That leaves software from companies like Zoomsafter, tXtBlocker and iZup.

While the specifics differ, the general idea is the same. When a cell phone or a vehicle exceeds a certain speed, determined by the car and transmitted via Bluetooth or by the speed of the cell phone itself as measured by cell phone towers, the phone is automatically disabled.

That won’t work, said Atchley. Most of these services are voluntary. It is not difficult for users to either not activate them, or to work around them.

The real answer to the problem is a change in people’s attitudes. The research on drunk driving and distracted driving is quite similar, but the reactions of people to both are far different.

"When we ask young drivers about drunk driving, they say that judges should throw the book at drunk drivers, but not the person texting while driving," said Atchley.

"The bottom line is that people want to use these devices," said Atchley. "And things are going to get worse before they get better."
